Montana Medical Marijuana Program
F.A.Q.

The Montana Medical Marijuana Program has a section of their website dedicated to helping walk potential MMJ patients through the process.   It includes step by step instructions for obtaining an identification card, as well as a list of FAQ.

Essentially, the process for obtaining and MMJ card includes the following:

  1. Determining if you are a qualifying patient, based on the list of debilitating medical conditions.  To do this, you will need to visit a physician or local clinic for a consultation to determine if your condition qualifies for an MMJ card.
  2. If a physician approves your eligibility at your appointment, they will help guide you through the process for then submitting a medical marijuana card application to MT Department of Human Health Services.   You will be required to choose a provider as well as submit your application online via the online portal.
  3. In terms of fees, you will be required to pay a fee for your physician visit as well as an application fee to DPHHS.  The yearly application fee for a Montana Medical Marijuana card is $30.00 (or $10.00 if a qualifying patient is seeking to change providers).
